The Girls in STEM Mentoring Programme is funded by the Department of Earth Science and Engineering (ESE) to support Zainab Titus, the founder of the Ziana Education Project at IWAYEC to run a mentoring programme for girls affected by the insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.

Ziana is an initiative designed to provide disadvantaged and less-privileged young learners—particularly those affected by the insurgency in north-eastern Nigeria—the opportunity to develop a reading culture and advance their education through providing them quality learning resources.

IWAYEC since inception has focused on making life better for women who are seen in the 21^st century as great contributors to their family’s income.

Youth leadership training has been one of the major pragmatic strategies in which IWAYEC uses to develop young people in communities.

The programme trains women, youth and children on skills such as fashion and design, knitting, tie and dye, soap making, body creams, beads making, mat/basket weaving, oil processing.
